About Korean

Korean is the official language of both South Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), which have a combined population, around 73 million. It is also spoken in Korean communities in China, Japan, the USA and Central Asia. Although Korean has a reputation as a difficult language to learn, perhaps partly due to the fact that it is not related to any other language, picking up the basics is in fact relatively easy, especially in comparison with other Asian languages such as Mandarin Chinese.

LISTEN, ABSORB AND SPEAK KOREAN NATURALLY

This 1-hour digital taster course is for beginners who are new to the Michel Thomas Method. During the course, you will join Michel Thomas Method Teachers Jieun Kiaer and Derek Driggs and two students in a live lesson, learning from both their successes and their mistakes to keep you motivated and involved throughout the course. You, as the learner, become the third student and participate actively in the class. Within the very first hour you will be able to construct simple Korean phrases by listening and thinking out answers for yourself without the pressure of writing or stress of having to memorize. You will learn at your own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary, and complete the course in about 3-4 hours. This digital course is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app. It is the first hour of the Foundation Korean course.

Olly Richards from I will Teach You a language, says of his experience on the course: The experience of being a student on Michel Thomas Korean was far beyond what I expected. The teachers are exceptional and the course very well-structured. I’d recommend the course to anyone who’s looking for a solid start in the Korean language.

LISTEN, ABSORB AND SPEAK KOREAN NATURALLY

This 8-hour digital audio-only Korean course is a powerful foundation on which to build a strong understanding of Korean. By actively engaging with the live Korean lesson, your brain will begin to make the connections necessary to make the language really stick, and you will see significant results in a remarkably short period of time. The Michel Thomas Method works by breaking a language down into its component parts and enabling you to reconstruct the language yourself. Within the first hour you will be able to construct simple sentences. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to understand and speak basic Korean — you will be familiar with grammar basics, expressions and essential Korean vocabulary. You will practice at your own pace, pausing and speaking in Korean where necessary, and complete the online course in about 20-30 hours. This course is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app. This course incorporates the Start Korean course.
