This 1-hour online Portuguese digital taster course is for beginners who are new to the Michel Thomas Method. Learn how to speak Portuguese from scratch by learning the 50 most common Portuguese words and how to put them together to make yourself understood. From the very beginning you will be able to construct simple phrases by listening and thinking out answers for yourself. During the course you will join Michel Thomas Method expert Portuguese teacher Virginia Catmur, plus a native speaker, and 2 students in a live lesson. You will learn at your own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary, and complete the course in about 3-4 hours. This digital course is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app. It is the first hour of the Foundation Portuguese course.

VIRGINIA CATMUR

Virginia Catmur grew up in a multilingual environment, and used her language skills working as a freelancer for various publishers. In early 2002 she met Michel Thomas while working for Hodder & Stoughton as a language editor – working alongside Michel in the studio, she edited his courses, and then managed the roll-out of the ‘post-Michel’ languages, commissioning and training other teachers who were similarly convinced by his Method.

Foundation Portuguese

LISTEN, ABSORB AND SPEAK PORTUGUESE NATURALLY

Foundation Portuguese is an 8-hour digital course that will give you basic competence in European Portuguese. The language is broken down into building blocks in such a way that you listen, speak, respond and move on to ever-more-complex essential Portuguese phrases. Within the first hour you will be able to construct simple Portuguese sentences. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to understand and speak basic Portuguese. You will practice Portuguese at your own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary, and complete the online course in about 20-30 hours. This course is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app. This course incorporates the Start Portuguese course.

Intermediate Portuguese

Intermediate Portuguese is the next step in your language journey and follows on from the Michel Thomas Method Foundation Portuguese course. The online Portuguese lessons will build on your existing knowledge of European Portuguese as you join Michel Thomas Method teacher Virginia Catmur, along with a native Portuguese speaker and 2 students in a live lesson in which you are encouraged to participate. Your understanding of Portuguese will deepen as your knowledge expands by covering areas like different verb tenses and other basic grammar, all introduced in simple building blocks with the same no-pens, no memorizing method. You will learn at your own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary; it will take around 15-20 hours to complete this digital Portuguese course which is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app.
